Recess

I have been on a bit of a break, got a little tired of playing shows, and have been focusing on writing a bit more. I don't have much to show for it, but what I do I will share with you.

Swamp Race.mp3

Ornamental Oriental.mp3

I'm going to be releasing a tape soon, not sure what's going on it yet. It's going to be a run of 100, hand-done called "Swamp Race" or "The Looming, Wild Summer Came" or both, don't know.
If you want any recordings, let me know and I'll email them to you, or dub you a tape of something.

Took a nice picture of Ally and Avey the other day:

Out of work

been out of a job for a few weeks now, so i've been recording a bit. it's strange, once you have all the time in the world, to do what you'd like to do most, creativity can sometimes fail you. i feel like i should be doing more, but i have a small handful of songs in the works. here are two finished tracks for you to listen to/download. let me know what you think, and let me know if you're interested in a whale tape split cassette for 4 dollars.

ALSO: I play drums for carl now in Kal Marks, you should try to make it to a show, he writes fantastic songs. And as you can see in the picture above, we're pretty fun together. Like Hall and Oates kind of. let me know if you want to book us for anything at lindentapes@gmail.com

"SLEEPWALKER" 2007 - 2009 COLLECTION

Decided that rather than attempting to release hard-copies of 8 or so albums, I would create this collection. A wide array of things that I've recorded over the past two or so years.

Contact me if you'd like to be mailed a copy, $7.00 with insert, patch and track listing.

Also if you have a specific album (Bastard Summer EP, Behind the Museum, Early Recordings, Linden Tapes, Marian Gollan, Swell Novels, Trip the Light Fantastic, Screaming Woods EP etc.) that you would like me to burn to a cd, let me know and I'll get one to you.

New Album

photo from linden street by vicky v

Began working on a new album today. Have five or six songs down, two of which you can listen to if you click the tabs below. Recording has been a hassle, don't really have anything to record on unless Sara's computer is lying around. Need to find a cheap 4/8 track cassette recorder to be truly comfortable. The one I got for my birthday has playback but is too old and busted to record anything. One big expensive tape deck.

Shows coming up, Nov 13th at Commonwealth Terrace, Allston MA, email me if you want an address, and possibly something on the 21st at The Problem House, also in Allston. Might play a show in Lowell soon too, as well as Amherst. Hope you enjoy the new songs, share any thoughts.

Been recording, writing, here and there. Busy with lots of non-music things, but I have an upcoming show in July at Wadzilla, and I'm sure we're having one or two within the upcoming weeks at our apartment on Linden.

Email me if you'd like a hard-copy of anything, and hope everyone's enjoying the weather. Carl put a box fan in the living room, and it's feelin goooood.

"Rust City"

I have plans to finish a new album "Rust City," by the end of next week, and will hopefully release it on cassette, as I've been looking, more and more into the semi-affordable rates of tape duplication. I'm hoping to actually plug away at a few ideas and collect all the songs at the end of the one week, after work, sessions at a friends house. I don't want to just piece together songs that I've written here and there that seem album-worthy as I normally do, but record songs that work together to form a whole.

Although I'm not sure about packaging/artwork, Wesley Dolen drew a pretty worthy picture of me the other night:

In addition to that news, I drew some things recently I'd like to share here:

EARLY NOISE/COUGH COUGH SPLIT
completely finished recordings, all in one joint sitting. combined opening/closing tracks. rowdy sounding intro/outro, followed by well written folk songs to be released in all original collaged cardboard sleeves to cd-r. 30-ish copies, hopefully. should be finished with in the next few weeks.

TIRED TRAILS TAPE RELEASE

Currently in the works of being put out by the new york based tape label Tired Trails, sewn up cloth sleeves, released
on cassettes, with a photograph/song list within each. Done as soon as the Tired Trails sewing machine can't possibly go on.
